Numerical Analysis of Air Vortex Interaction with Porous Screen

In many industrial applications, a permeable mesh (porous screen) is used to control the unsteady (most commonly vortex) flows. Vortex flows are known display intriguing behavior while propagating through porous screens. This numerical study aims investigate effects of physical properties such as porosity, Reynolds number, inlet flow dimension, and distance screen on behavior. The simulation model includes piston-cylinder vortex ring generator constructed by evenly arranged rods. Two methods user-defined function moving have been applied generation. results show formation, evolution, characteristics vortical rings under various conditions. for vorticity contours kinetic energy dissipation indicate that alter in ways model, cross-validated with experimental results, provides better understanding fluid–solid interactions
